2024 SEEING REDEMPTION
————————————————
This is a visual meditation on grace, forgiveness, and rebirth. Rather than narrating the story of redemption, the works abstractly embody the soul’s transformation through faith in Christ.

This artwork is dominated by deep green hues, with layered strokes that evoke a sense of movement and life. It resembles the wind sweeping through a forest or the undulating motion of soft grass—and perhaps even the stirrings of the inner soul. A single rupture of white in the upper right quietly tears through the green, bringing contrast and tension to the composition. The inspiration lies in a deep longing—a quiet waiting to be seen, to be touched by light amid the dense wilderness.
Spiritual Interpretation
《Seeing Redemption 70》
“Seeing Redemption 70” is a metaphorical image about how God sees. In Scripture, Abraham names the place “Jehovah Jireh” — which means both “the Lord will provide” and “the Lord will see” (Genesis 22:14). The green landscape symbolizes life, growth, and hope; the single emergence of white light reflects the moment God’s gaze breaks through the veil, reaching the depths. Redemption does not begin with us searching for God—it begins when God sees us. In that moment, you are seen, and grace begins to shine.

This painting is a vibrant green landscape, evoking dappled light filtering through treetops or the gentle rippling of grass in the breeze. The brushwork is airy and the tones are luminous, filled with the freshness of spring and the power of renewal. It was created during a peaceful devotional morning, inspired by Psalm 23: “He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside still waters.”

《Seeing Redemption 69》
“Seeing Redemption 69” portrays a spiritual green pasture—not the comfort of outer circumstances, but the inner rest of a soul shepherded by the Lord. The white breaks in the composition are like beams of divine light, reminding us that true redemption is being brought back into God’s presence. Though abstract, the work conveys with deep honesty the inner process of God's work: guiding, restoring, and reviving the soul.

Art Statement
Since November 2023, I have embarked on a transformative artistic journey, relinquishing my previous focus on representational landscapes. Inspired by the divine, I have embraced a new direction, employing bold color palettes and minimalist compositions to convey themes of salvation, redemption, mercy, and truth.
In this exploration of spirituality, my artworks serve as visual narratives, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the profound emotions of peace, joy, and transcendence that accompany the acceptance of a higher power. Through simplicity and vibrant hues, I seek to transcend the confines of the tangible, offering a visual sanctuary where one can experience the beauty and wonder of a heart at peace and a spirit filled with joy after embracing the divine.
My intention is for the audience to connect with these canvases on a profound level, to perceive the intangible sensations that accompany a surrendered heart. In each piece, I endeavor to capture the essence of the transformative journey towards an inner tranquility that transcends the ordinary, providing a glimpse into the profound emotions that accompany a harmonious union with the divine.
May these artworks serve as vessels of inspiration, prompting contemplation and reflection on the profound beauty that lies within the acceptance of a higher power and the resulting inner serenity.

English
A high-saturation green dominates the field, while yellow-green breaks through like scraped-open light, creating strong positive/negative contrast. Broad, flat strokes and layered edges reveal the paper’s texture, suggesting fragments of wall, steps, or railing-like planes cut and reassembled. Near the upper center, a vertical deep-green “pillar” intersects with horizontal stroke bands, building a cross-gridded structure. A large diagonal plane on the right pushes the space toward a “corner.” Throughout, dense coverage continually yields to openings and flashes—light arriving in intervals.
3) Creative Intent|
English
This work doesn’t “tell a story” so much as it trains perception: to see difference, openings, and emerging light within the same green field. Redemption is pictured as revelation within covering—not the instant removal of darkness, but light made visible through seams, edges, and corners. The viewer is invited to discern what is wall, what is path, what is threshold—and to trust that when life feels like a single, uniform pressure, God still preserves breathable gaps within it.
4) Technique Notes|
English
You make full use of acrylic’s wet/dry behavior on paper: thick passages build opaque green “walls,” while thinner layers allow underlight to show through, so yellow-green reads like reflected ground light. Dragged flat-brush marks leave clear striations, creating rhythmic horizontal bands. Vertical forms gain weight through denser coverage and edge reworking. Areas that feel scraped or wiped into brightness turn the surface into an act of unveiling, not merely color-block assembly.
5) Spiritual Reading|
English
Seeing Redemption 52 feels like a lesson in seeing within covering. Green can signify life, but it can also function as concealment: when it fills everything, we assume one condition has swallowed the whole—emotion, hardship, a seasonal low. Yet the work preserves many yellow-green “openings,” like seams of grace. God may not first change the color of the environment; He may first change our sight—so within the same situation we notice His light, His guidance, the corner He has prepared for turning. The vertical “pillar” can read as a standing promise: a support that remains when things feel unstable. Redemption here is not a distant answer, but a present gift of vision.
6) Wall Label|
Seeing Redemption 52
English
Seeing Redemption 52 floods the surface with vivid green, yet preserves yellow-green openings between layered strokes—light as if uncovered. Horizontal and vertical structures intersect, suggesting wall and path, concealment and exit existing together. The work frames “redemption” as granted sight: within the same circumstances, light reveals itself through seams, and direction appears at the corner.

EN
The square image is flooded with luminous yellow-green, crossed by darker green bands that run diagonally from lower left to upper right. These bands break into repeating rectangular marks, like imprints or tracks laid side by side. Near the center a cooler turquoise glow opens up, soft and slightly oval, as if a light source were shining from beneath the surface. The overall effect hovers between an aerial view of fields and a close-up of textured fabric or fingerprints, all gently tilted, giving the painting a sense of quiet movement.

3) Creative Intent |
EN
Within this piece, the familiar grid of daily life is purposely simplified into bands and blocks. By tilting the whole structure and bathing it in vibrating greens, the artist suggests a shift in perspective: what once felt rigid—like streets, habits, or rows of memories—can be seen as a living field. The central turquoise area becomes a soft focus point where the eye can rest, hinting at a moment when a new understanding suddenly opens in the middle of repetition.
ZH
4) Technique Notes |
EN
Thin and thick layers of acrylic are brushed and pressed onto the paper, then partially lifted to leave a pattern of repeated rectangles. The artist likely uses a flat tool or edge to create the parallel strips, dragging pigment in one direction and allowing the under-color to shine through. Transparent and opaque greens overlap, producing subtle variations where the brush skips or the pressure changes. In the center, smoother blending and light glazing build the turquoise glow, contrasting with the more textured surrounding marks.
ZH
5) Spiritual Reading |
EN
Spiritually, the painting suggests a city or life pattern viewed from above—orderly yet worn by time. The repeated blocks can be read as old routines, failures, or even scars that seem to define who we are. Into this grid, a gentle center of light appears: redemption not as a violent erasing, but as a new presence that begins to glow within what already exists. As the green field leans diagonally, it hints at movement—God quietly tilting our fixed structures so that what used to feel like walls can become pathways. “Seeing redemption” here is learning to recognize that even our most repetitive patterns can be held and slowly transformed by a gracious, living light.
ZH

EN (Wall Text)
Seeing Redemption 55 presents a tilted field of luminous greens built from repeating rectangular marks. The image oscillates between an aerial view of city blocks and a close-up of layered texture. At the center, a quiet turquoise glow interrupts the grid, suggesting redemption as a new light that appears inside our most familiar patterns rather than outside them.
